Great to have easy check-in and parking was super convenient – with an option of covered or non (free or paid). A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.
Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.
The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.
The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.
Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.
Ortigia is simply wonderful. It has plenty of sights, shops, and restaurants, and a very laid-back atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. But the best part is the people: friendly and helpful, even to those whose Italian is basically non-existent. After only a few days on Via Galilei we felt like we were leaving home when it was finally time to depart. The tuktuk's came in handy but usually were unnecessary. We enjoyed everywhere we ate but the Ortigia Fish Bar on the waterfront was a particular delight - family-run, fresh ingredients, etc.

There is so much to see in and around Siracusa, we only spent a night and half a day. Was way to short. Just wondering around the city and small Island of Ortigia is a way to submerge yourself into the hum drum of Sicilian life.
Visit the Roman Amphiteater and just sit in a cafe and watch life go by.

People are so helpful and friendly. Beautiful area, oleanda trees amazing.
Food at a restaurant on the sea walkway was very ordinary and unimpressive… guess they attract a lot of tourists passing by. Definitely could up their game. We were ripped off with ice creams, overcharged, but I went back & was refunded E5. Exorbitant prices anyway. Took
Tuk tuk for hour & a half. Great way of getting around. Total lack of information though.

Disappointed in the acheological ruins, knowing the importance of the city in the ancient Greek world. Agrigento much more impressive. However- we loved Ortigia and would recommend the area for Ortigia alone.

Siracusa is a beautiful part of Sicily but it is very small so everything can be seen within a week (we stayed for two) the town was much more expensive than we had anticipated / my partner is also Italian and thought the town was very targeted towards tourists and less of a residential area. that being said everything was lovely and the food of course was amazing the granita and cannoli are exceptional. I am happy we saw Siracusa but i wouldn't visit this part of Sicily again i think we saw everything it had to offer in the time we stayed there.

Beautiful seaside city, especially Ortigia having minimal traffic and mainly pedestrianised.
Restaurants with great seafood and we really liked their variety of Sicilian grapes wines.
We walked from lower Ortigia to Teatro Greco and Parco Archeologico in Syracuse in 40 minutes.

Ortigia Casa Fab was definitely one of the best places we’ve stayed in Italy. Our host Fabio did an amazingly friendly, thorough and informative check-in. The apartment is beautiful, modern, comfortable & extremely clean with two excellent balconies. It’s in a wonderful part of Ortigia, very close to many great restaurants, cafes, shops, swimming areas and 5-10mins walk from the main tourist sights.
We give it⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ & will definitely return here on our next trip to Sicily 👍
The host was exceptionally helpful. We were at the close of 3 weeks in Sicily and a bit tired. His aid with location a driver, finding restaurants and local spots of interest, and clarifying any questions we had about the room made our stay easy and fun as we explored Ortigia, a beautiful small island with some of the major historic sites in Siracusa. If you want the ambiance of a valued traveler being hosted in an authentic Siracusa home, this accommodation is for you!
We had a ground floor apartment. It has very nice decoration and well equipped kitchen. The location is fantastic. Less than in a minute you can reach a seashore. It was very convenient to ramble around Ortigia and at the same time to get to the railway station and explore other Sicily Baroque cities. Welcome from Georgio was very warm.
We used the hotel for just one night during our road trip to Sicily. The staff was very kind and since the hotel had no parking, they let us use the space on the street in front of the hotel, which was very much appreciated.
Great location. A beautifully appointed apartment, spacious living areas and bathroom and the best equipped of anywhere we have stayed in Sicily or Italy. Really lovely relaxed place to stay.
